To mark its 155th birthday, Red Funnel, the original Isle of Wight ferry company is giving away 155 birthday treats to passengers on the 10 September 2016.
The treats will be randomly distributed by customer facing staff across the business to celebrate the milestone. Treats include free coffee, bacon rolls, foot passenger tickets and vehicle bookings.
Red Funnel, or to use its official name "The Southampton Isle of Wight and South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Company" was formed on 10 September 1861 from the merger of two competing Solent operators who date as far back as 1820. The official name is still the longest on the Company Register and the registration number 2404 is one of the shortest.
Jonathan Green, marketing and communications director said: “Our 155th birthday on 10 September is a real milestone with not many UK companies surviving for so long. We are delighted and proud to mark the occasion with customers who are travelling with us on this special day."
